Renewable energy education schools and programs are also in their "infancy" (so-to-speak). But, some very professional, well-designed and qualified programs are there for the asking right now.

These programs are equipping future experts in this field and are turning out graduates that will be at the leading edge of a promising and growing field.

It’s true that many renewable energy jobs require good educational backgrounds, but according to many experts a good portion of these positions will not require as much educational experience or background as you might first assume.

How Do I Get Started?

There are several degree-granting programs available in the U.S. for wind-specific training:

  • Texas Tech University Wind Science and Engineering Research Center

  • MIT Laboratory for Energy and the Environment

  • Illinois Institute of Technology Energy and Sustainability Institute

  • University of Utah Wind Energy Research Program

  • University of Massachusetts Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
